Objective of the course
To provide the qualified dentist with a basic foundation in orthodontics. In contrast to many 2 or 3 days courses aiming at one particular topic, this course provides a broad insight into both the theoretical and the clinical aspects of orthodontics. The programme provides an excellent background for advanced education and a better understanding of the possibilities and limitations in clinical orthodontic practice to the professionals.
This course is especially directed to private practitioners and postgraduates who are interested to start orthodontic practice in their clinics and wishes a thorough background in the subject. This is an eye opener for beginners to differentiate b/w simple and complicated orthodontic cases.
Aim of the Course
The aim of the course is to provide state-of-the-art information on orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning and therapy. The course consists of a theoretical and a practical part on typodonts, which provides an outstanding background for contemporary clinical orthodontics.
The education consists of lectures on a wide range of topics, exercises related to treatment planning and cephalometrics and different types of typodont courses, including basic edgewise technique, straight wire technique etc.

Admission to the programme requires a dental degree from a recognized institution and a registered dentist under respective DCI (Dental Council of India) for Indian students or an authorized body in their respective country for foreign students. Candidates should have the license for independent work as a dentist and minimum one years of clinical experience as a general practitioner or post graduate student with a minimum of six month full-time experience or with a post graduate degree in any field of dentistry. The number of positions available is limited to 10. The small number of participants allows to optimize the teaching activities and the adaptation of the course to the participants' specific needs.
To make the teaching more efficient it is essential that the students will receive 20 days electronic (via e-mail) modules on daily basis regarding various orthodontic topics (STRAIGHT WIRE TOPICS) like brackets and its positioning, various wires used in orthodontics, basic instruments for orthodontics etc. It will be very easy for the students if they go through the modules daily and then attend the course. No need to take any print outs as these modules will be in a booklet format at the end of the hands-on course. This will be a good reference guide for you in future. All the candidates will receive online dentistry’s certificate at the valedictory function.
This is a 3 Level orthodontic course structured in such a way that the enrolled candidates will be guided to diagnose, start and finish a case.
Level I: Once the candidates register for the course, you will receive 20 electronic modules of various orthodontic topics daily by e mail. You need to respond back each day. There are no criteria to go to level II.
Level II: This is 40 hours of hand on.
3 DAYS HANDS ON SCHEDULE (RESIDENTIAL)
Course schedule for hands on
Diagnosis and treatment planning of a non extraction case: Candidates will be given models, ceph and photos of patient and will be taught how to do diagnosis of a non extraction case, followed by bracket placement on ideal cast, crowded cast and crowded thypodont. All the candidates will place wires in the crowded thypodont and will align and finish the crowded case with 10-12 wire placement as if in patient’s mouth. You will be simulating the tooth movements as if in patient’s mouth with each wire placement, and finish the non extraction case.
Diagnosis and treatment planning of an extraction case: Candidates will be given models, ceph photos of patient and will be taught how to do diagnosis of an extraction case, followed by sequential wire placement on thypodont. Introduction of Working wire concept, canine retraction, en mass retraction, retention and relapse etc. You will complete an extraction case stage by stage. You will be simulating the tooth movements as if in patient’s mouth with each wire placement, and finish the non extraction case.
Introduction to interceptive orthodontics, myofunctional appliances, early orthodontic therapy, orthotropics, special cases in orthodontics, practical problems in daily orthodontic practice, latest in orthodontics, practise management in orthodontics, how to convince a case for orthodontics, trouble shooting in orthodontics.
Level III: once the candidate finishes the hands on, you will be enrolled to a whats app group called online dentistry ortho. This is a private group exclusively for ortho study purpose. All the other members are those who have finished our ortho course and continuing the ortho cases in their clinics. They will be posting the cases according to the norms set by us during the hands on. We will have discussion from all other members and the final diagnosis will be given by our faculty. In this way you can slowly start and finish the cases. You also can up load photos in different stages of treatments and get the opinion of the faulty. If any trouble shoots come you can rectify then and there. In this way you will get exposed to other cases also on a daily basis.
For, eg first sent the patient complaint, pictures, opg, ceph analysis, model analysis. You will be given the diagnosis and treatment plan. Secondly, you can start bracketing, then and there sent the pictured to the group we will see any mistake in the bracketing. Next when the patient come sent the pictures you will clearly see any bracketing errors if any (other members might comment on the cases in different angle, but final call will be by the faculty). Change the wire and then carry on to the next stage. This is the unique feature of online dentistry courses. You have online support any time you want.
All the registered candidates will have a life time support by faculties of online dentistry via online (e-mail/fb/what’s app). If a candidate is interested to join, you can talk to the faculties and you can discuss what you want from this course.
Be prepared to start bracketing the next day on wards.You can bring your identified patient cast, photos, cephalometrics during the course and we will discuss the case so that the treatment plan will be given and you can start the case(all the instrument, and whatever you need to start and finish the cases will be given as early bid offer, then you need to refill the kit later).
Lifelong online support for you, if have any doubts regarding a case, all you need to do is to post the case with full details as we teach you during the hands on.
Certificates will be given at the end of hands-on.
All topics in a booklet for easy reference will be given at the end of hands on.

Package B: Excluding starter kit and a working lunch/snacks will be provided.
Package C: Custom made batch: These are exclusive batches for two to three candidates who wish to come as a separate group. Minimum of two and maximum of four candidate per group. The advantage of this is you will get patient exposures with working on patient who are at different stages of orthodontic treatment (minimum 5 patients) will be allotted for you. No starter kit but a working lunch/snacks will be provided.
